The finding is the heart of the report and the slowest part of the job. Habita does not simply retrieve something you already wrote: the AI drafts the finding from your own words and the photos attached to it, and you keep the pen through to the end.
A structured finding, not an empty box
Each finding breaks into blocks that answer the questions a buyer actually asks, in the order they ask them.
- Observation: what was found, factually, including any test performed.
- Role: what the component does in the building, for a reader who is not in the trade.
- Consequence: what is likely to happen if nothing is done.
- Recommendation: who to call, how urgently, and within what timeframe.
- Photo captions: every photo in the finding carries its own caption in the report.
A single-paragraph mode is also available for inspectors who prefer their findings written as one block. The choice lives in your profile and applies to every report.
Severity, and the timeframe that comes with it
- Three severity levels, with a color code that stays consistent from the field to the report.
- A time factor added automatically according to severity, so the recommendation carries a deadline instead of a vague 'monitor this'.
- The recommended trade, spelled out: master electrician, roofer, structural engineer.
- Affected units, for multi-unit buildings.
What the AI actually does
Habita's AI starts from text, not from the photo. You type a few words, it writes the blocks and proposes the photo captions. That is writing, not search.
- Full drafting of the finding from your notes and the attached photos.
- Adjustment by conversation: ask for shorter, more cautious, more technical, and it rewrites. By keyboard or by microphone.
- Nothing is written until you apply the proposal.
- An explicit warning when the AI is uncertain about a finding, so you read it more closely.
- Photo caption generation, the most thankless task in a fifty-page report.
- Translation of the report into the other language, cached so it is not paid for twice.
The AI stays under your control
- On the Unlimited plan there is no cap and no message counter to watch.
- On Essential, one credit unlocks AI on a complete file: drafting, adjustments and translation included. Credits do not expire while the account is active.
- A switch disables AI entirely on an account: the buttons disappear from the interface.
- You are always the signing author. Every proposed text is editable before it is saved.
The review queue
A finding drafted by AI arrives marked for review. You filter to see only those, confirm them one by one, and a counter shows the progress. No generated text reaches a delivered report without passing under your eyes.
FAQ
Does the AI invent findings?
It fills gaps if you give it too little to work with, and that is the real risk. Habita tells you when the input is thin, asks for a photo or a few more words, and marks generated findings for review before they enter the report. Reading them is not optional.
Is there a usage cap?
None on the Unlimited plan. On Essential, one credit unlocks AI on a complete file, including drafting, adjustments and translation, and credits do not expire while your subscription is active.
Can I work without AI at all?
Yes, and it is a fair test of any inspection software. A switch removes AI from your account, and the report is then written from your findings library and your own text. The product was built to stay complete without it.
Can I keep my own writing style?
Yes. The AI follows the finding structure you chose in your settings, and you can ask it to rework a text until it sounds like you. The findings you save to your library also serve as a style reference.
