Onboarding, migration and custom work

You do not change your method. The tool adapts.

There is a persistent assumption that modern, automated software must be rigid, and that customisation is reserved for enterprise contracts at established vendors. Here it is the reverse, and it is a matter of structure rather than goodwill.

The developer is a co-founder

Habita is not resold by an integrator or maintained by a services team billing hourly. The person writing the code co-owns the company and speaks directly to the inspectors using it.

  • A request for an adjustment does not need a quote, a purchase order or a release cycle.
  • A missing field, a section to add, a template specific to your practice: it gets written and shipped.
  • You speak to the person who writes the code, not to a first line of support.
  • No development fee for adjustments requested by inspectors coming on board.

Migration, without starting over

The real cost of changing software is never the subscription. It is the month spent rebuilding your way of working while you keep delivering jobs. That is the part that is guided.

  • Rebuilding your way of working: your sections, your text, your report structure.
  • Setting up your findings library from what you were already writing.
  • Configuring your standard of practice, your agreement templates and your emails.
  • Setting your brand: logo, report colors, signature.
  • You keep your method rather than learning a new one.

What custom work actually means

The phrase is vague, so here is the kind of request we mean:

  • A subsection that does not exist in the shipped structure, because your region has a construction quirk.
  • One more field on the file record, specific to how you qualify a job.
  • A clause to add to your service agreement.
  • A report template that follows the order your clients are used to.
  • An export in a format your accountant insists on.

None of those is exotic, and none should require a quote. They take a few days and they often benefit other inspectors afterwards, which is precisely why they are not billed.

The limit, because there is one

Not everything can be written, and pretending otherwise would be dishonest. A request that drifts away from building inspection, that would break the product for everyone else, or that would take weeks, gets discussed rather than promised.

What you get instead is a straight and quick answer, from the person who would write the code. Not a ticket disappearing into a queue.

The two people behind Habita

FAQ

Do I have to pay to have Habita adapted to my practice?

No. Adjustments requested by inspectors coming on board are written and shipped with no development fee. That is possible because the developer co-owns the company rather than being an outside supplier billing by the hour.

How long does moving from another tool take?

It depends mostly on how much of your writing you want to bring across, and you are not doing it alone: your way of working is rebuilt with you, findings library, templates and branding included.

What if a feature I need does not exist?

Say so. If it makes sense for building inspection, it gets written. That is how most of the current features came about.
